Peace and Tranquility - a unique experience

Our Convict Trail overnight tour leads north through the historic villages of Wisemans Ferry, St Albans, Laguna and Wollombi, where we follow a wonderful rainforest trail through the Watagan National Park, to arrive at the award winning Four Horizons Eco-Lodges.

The Lodges received the 2000 Royal Institute of Architects NSW Premier’s Award for Architecture and the main house received the 1997 RAIA Environment Award for it’s low energy design.

Using solar power and rain water, the lodges are dotted through the forest along a cliff top. Each has an attractive, modern interior featuring a wood stove, comfortable furniture, radio and CD player with a spiral staircase leading to a loft style double bedroom with treetop views. A spacious outdoor deck offers private relaxation surrounded by the Australian bush.

Our tour arrives at Four Horizons mid afternoon in time for spectacular views from the nearby lookouts. Dinner is prepared on site and later we may take the opportunity to go spotlighting for the many native animals which can only be seen at night.

After an excellent breakfast we offer a choice of local activities: perhaps a guided walk through surrounding bush, a short tour to local wineries or perhaps you can just relax and admire the stunning view over the lower Hunter Valley. After lunch, we head back to Sydney, following the forest trails of the Watagan mountains to find an aboriginal cave and more relics of early timbergetters. Keen walkers, see our bushwalking tours!
