This scenic and informative full day ecotour explores Sydney's north western gateway into the Hunter Valley to visit several popular wineries as well as many `boutique' vineyards, hidden off the `beaten track':
On the winery trail....
Travelling north from Sydney, we cross the mighty Hawkesbury River before joining the Great North Road. Here, we take time out to visit scenic lookouts in the rugged and isolated Papran & Yengo National Parks, with views possible all the way to the Blue Mountains. Nearby, we find a secret vineyard with excellent wines which many of our guests rate as the best of the day!
The historic sandstone villages of Laguna and Wollombi are worthy of a visit and if time permits, we may discover the secret of Dr Jurd's inamous `Jungle Juice'. Taking scenic back country roads, we head into the Pokolbin region to visit several vineyards before enjoying a fine `Tastings' lunch at one of the many Hunter wineries.
After lunch we have the option of visiting more wineries before climbing a high mountain trail to pass through a magnificent sub-tropical rainforest. Nearby, in the State Forests of the Central Coast, we may visit an ancient timber cutters site before crossing the majestic Hawkesbury River on our return to Sydney.
