This unusual and scenic tour departs Blue Mountains sandstone country to follow the Great Western Highway down the spectacular Victoria Pass of 1836. Soon we depart the highway to travel through the rich granite and basalt country of the Oberon plateau.
Today, we follow an ancient Aboriginal trade route known as the Burra Burra trail, which once connected tribes from Bathurst to Goulburn with the rich hunting and waring grounds of the Oberon high country. After crossing the headwaters of the Abercrombie river, we veer east and descend the ridges to find a hidden Karst valley.
Here at Wombeyan limestone caves, the creek disappears into the mountain so we take the opportunity to explore it's path deep underground to emerge out the other side!
Our route back to Katoomba is even more scenic than our entry as we cross the Wollondilly River, pass through the Bullio Tunnel to arrive at the historic Sounthern Highlands village of Berrima in time for afternoon tea!
NOTE: This tour can also depart from Sydney and return passengers to either Katoomba or Sydney. POA
