Full Day Barrington Tops Tour:
This sensational full day tour includes a light breakfast at historic Morpeth and lunch at the famous Barrington Guest House. Bring your comfortable shoes as we offer a choice of short walks deep into the Barrington rainforests and if it’s hot, bring your towel and swimmers!
Heading North from Sydney, we stop for a photographic opportinity overlooking the mighty Hawkesbury River before breakfast at Morpeth. Passing over the Hunter River, we take scenic roads through historic Hunter towns to the village of Paterson, where we stretch our legs in the park. Following the Paterson River upstream, we head into the Allyn River valley. After numerous creek crossings, we soon arrive at Upper Allyn, deep in sub-tropical rainforest.
On the banks of the crystal clear Allyn River, lunch is prepared while you walk among the giant Strangler Figs and Forest Oaks which are common in this area.
Now, we climb steeply to Mt Allyn at well over 1000 metres above sea level. Weather permitting, we are afforded stunning views of the Hunter Valley whilst behind us, Barrington Tops awaits, cloaked in the World Heritage listed antarctic beech rainforest.
A short walk through the beech forest brings us to Burraga Swamp, an unusual depression surrounded by thick rainforest and with a thick layer of peat floating on the surface.
Climbing over the divide, we descend into the valley of the Williams River where we visit that famous icon of the Hunter, Barrington Guest House. Built in 1925, the House still prepares meals on a wood fired stove and you can get close and personal with a range of Australian wildlife.
We return to Sydney via Dungog and the historic village of Morpeth to have you back in Sydney by about 7pm. See our Barrington Tops overnight option...
